OBJECTIVE & MANDATE
The Calabar Old Boys’ Association’s (COBA) objective and mandate is to facilitate the development of the school through infrastructural improvements and working with the School’s Board and management in improving academic standards and strengthening human resource capital.
FOCUS
COBA focuses on five areas:
o Academic Performance
o Creating the Ideal Calabar Graduate through Mentorship
o Administrative Management
o Infrastructure Modernization
o Sustainable Funding
To achieve the objective COBA:
1. Facilitates and conducts academic programmes that feeds into and supports the School’s Strategic Plan.
2. Maintains a sustainable mentorship programme.
3. Provides guidance and expertise to the School’s Management team
4. Examines the physical infrastructural needs and makes technical recommendations as well as undertaking funding initiatives.
5. Disseminates information and data to the Calabar family.
COBA will continue to build on Calabar’s tradition of bringing up boys to be well-grounded men and well-rounded citizens within a school environment that is empowering and uplifting.
INFRASTRUCTURAL IMPROVEMENTS SINCE 2010
Recent Infrastructural Improvements aimed at modernizing the entire School infrastructure, that was steered by COBA include:
1. The School’s entrance
7. Conversion of black boards to white boards in most classrooms
9. Remodeling the Staff Rooms
10. Creating a Reading Room to improve the literacy level of challenged students
15. A block of classrooms
16. Refurbishing the Language laboratory
17. Comprehensive potable water distribution from the on-campus well
18. Counseling Centre
