Major (ret’d) Desmon Brown is a mechanical engineer who spent 16 years in the JDF. He has a post graduate degree in Public Transport Management and has spent his entire career in the public service, with the last 20 years as the General Manager of Independence Park Ltd. Major Brown was awarded the Order of Distinction (OD) in 2019 by the Government of Jamaica. Major Brown has served the Calabar Community in several areas. First as head boy, then President of COBA, as a member of the School Board and also as President of the PTA.
Deanall is a member of the graduating class of 1991. He has amassed over 18 years of professional experience in the private and public sector .
Presently, he is the managing partner of DeanallBarnesLaw and he also serves as Managing Director, Atlantic Hardware and Plumbing Limited.
Deanall is the chairman of Charlemount High School and Ewarton Primary Board of Governors .
A justice of the peace and mentor, he has previously served as Council Member COBA and has provided assistance for several programmes including football, track and field, robotics and quiz .
Howard is a Chartered Accountant, entrepreneur and business consultant with over 30 years experience and business interests in a variety of industries. He is a mentor for the Calabar Old Boys’ Association’s Mentorship programmer, an advisor for the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and a director of The Honey Bun Foundation.
Kamar Jordon is a dedicated professional in the construction industry and a successful entrepreneur. A proud alumnus of Calabar High School, Class of 2010, Kamar has significantly contributed to youth development across the island, having served as the first male president of the Peace for Champs Campaign, a mentor at Calabar High School and other inner-city youth empowerment initiatives. He was also commissioned as one of the youngest Jamaica’s Justices of the Peace. Kamar is First Vice President of the Jamaica Cycling Federation, a motivation speaker and dedicated mathematics tutor.
Chris, class of 1992, has been a part of the Shipping Industry for 30 yrs. Presently the line manager for COSCO Shipping Line (the third largest container carrier globally). He is presently the President of Rabalac Fan Club (RFC) which supports different clubs at Calabar either financially or physically. He has been a part of the football programme from 2017 to present.
Michael McCormack is a dedicated professional with a diverse background. After serving as an aircraft technician in the military for 12 years, Michael transitioned to Auditing at BakerTilly. His military experience has instilled in him a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence. Michael graduated Calabar High School in 2007. He is eager to give back to the institution that played such a significant role in his development.
Cary is a Banker with over 30 years experience. He is an alumnus of the UWI having majored in mathematics and Computer Science, a Post Graduate degree in Banking and Finance and CFA from the University Of Wales. Cary served as Treasurer and Asst Treasurer on past COBA Executives and was a member of the Wagga Hunt Foundation organizing committee. Cary was a Prefect and represented Calabar in Football and wishes to see over 75% of our students consistently achieving the academic requirements to matriculate to a tertiary institution.
Dr. Winston Whyte resides in Miami, Florida and has made commendable contributions to the Jamaican and American communities for over 45 years. He is the co-founder of the Jamaican Association of Miami-Dade Educators, the Vice-president of the Calabar Alumni Association of Florida and the CEO of A Whisper of Hope Foundation.
He has received numerous awards, including Principal of the Year for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and State of Florida Middle School Principal of the Year. A Proclamation was given by the Mayor of Miami, naming May 24, 2007, as Dr. Winston Whyte Day. He has been an international presenter and regarded as an expert in the field of education, particularly Special Education. Dr. Whyte’s work in cancer research prior to becoming a teacher, has been published in Analytical Biochemistry. He has been married to his soulmate from the Queens School for the past 45 years and have 3 adult children. He is retired and now travels the world with his wife, spending the children’s inheritance.
David Miller is a proud member of the Class of 1984, and has been President of the Calabar Old Boys Association (COBA) since August 2015, having previously served as Secretary between August 2009 and 2015. It is important to him that COBA does its part in contributing towards positive values in all its students. He is currently the Executive Director of the Fair Trading Commission (FTC), and has served as Trustee to the Pension Plans of two organizations and Chairman of Finance for the Local Organizing Committee of CARIFTA 2011.
Andrew Wynter is seasoned transformational and General Management professional with over 40 years of experience in border security, loss prevention and change management. In his last assignment was as the CEO of the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) he led the agency through several transformational initiatives that led to the agency achieving significantly levels of improvement in its operations.
These initiatives included but are not limited to the installation of electronic gates at the country’s 2 largest airports, introduction of electronic passports and upgrading of the agency offices across the island.
In addition to the above his experience in strategic planning, risk and change management have provided him with a holistic understanding of how to implement best practises and principles to ensure that and organization can achieve its results. With this knowledge and experience he brings to the table the skill set that will help to create value for Calabar. Calabar in preparing for the future will need to transform from how it currently operates to a school of the future where it prepares its students for the world of tomorrow. The transformational programs that we need to bring to the table will assist in moving Calabar from being a good school to a great school.
Kwame MA McPherson, Class of ’82, is also a past member of the Toronto and member of the London COBA Chapters. He is an international award-winning writer Kwame won the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2023, for Jamaica, for the Caribbean region and Internationally. Kwame holds numerous certificates, diplomas from academic institutions in the UK, he also obtained an MBA from the University of Westminster.He is a qualified London Football Association/FA referee (voted Referee of the Year 2013/14). In his spare time he is either writing, playing football, networking or travelling.
Richard is a Marketing Consultant, Project Manager and Entrepreneur. He finds pleasure in answering “the call of Calabar”, through various fund raising campaigns for the track & field team, assisting with management and instilling discipline and greater academic standards.
Peter Mose graduated from Calabar in 1968. He represented the school in football and cricket and was the Deputy Headboy. He attended Carnegie Mellon University and upon graduation he commenced a career in banking with Citibank where he eventually was appointed the Head of the Bank. He was involved in several public service roles, such as President of the PSOJ and the Jamaica Bankers Association. Currently he is the Chairman of First Global Bank and a Board Member of the Cement Company. He is the President of the Real Mona Football Club and is engaged in farming.
Mr. Sean W. Harvey
Sean, Class of 2004, holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Social Work from the UWI, and is a dedicated professional in the field of social work and education. Currently, he serves as a guidance counselor at the Salvation Army School for the Blind and is a part-time lecturer at the Northern Caribbean University. He is happily married and blessed with two children, and is committed to the visually impaired community.
Michael is an alum of the University of the West Indies (UWI), who graduated with a B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc in Accounting, and is also a Certified Public Accountant. He has 40 years experience in accounting, taxation, auditing and tertiary level teaching. He is currently employed as a lecturer at the UWI.
He is also chairman of the board and finance committee of Ayrtons Company and currently serves as 1st Vice-President of the Calabar Old Boys' Association, a member of the board of management of Calabar, as well as a member of the school's finance committee. He enjoys mentoring, consulting on institutional management and governance and providing guidance on best practices in accounting and finance.
Clement Hamilton is a past Mentor of over five years in the COBA Mentorship program. He is employed at Petrojam with over twenty-five years in the petroleum industry. He currently holds the position of ISO Coordinator with responsibilities for the Quality Assurance program in the Laboratory. Married with children and grandchildren, his other passions outside of his devotion to his alma mata are the literary arts and live music.

COBA has several initiatives targeted at each of the seven areas of the School’s Strategic Plan. Academic and teacher development is at the forefront of COBA; and COBA drives a strong mentorship programme targeted at all boys and academic growth through regular interface the school’s leadership and senior teachers.
COBA hosts skills-building workshops and has an incentive programme for teachers.
COBA is at the focal point of the school’s infrastructural developments. The Sports Complex, modernised Information and Communication Technology (ICT) foundation, and School Entrance are recent additions. Another phase for the ICT infrastructure, a Robotics Lab, and a Sick Bay are in the planning stage.
COBA serves as an information and communication hub for the Calabar community. It is closely aligned with the school’s management, and obtains information from the school on its strategic plan, activities, needs, wants and initiatives. Initiatives and activities are shared with all stakeholders through COBA’s information network.
